Who we are
We believe the person seeking services is the true decision-maker in their life. Our role is to collaborate—not direct—by partnering with individuals and the people they choose to involve as they plan their lives.
All Tandem involvement is grounded in person-centered approaches, ensuring that support is guided by each individual’s goals, values, and choices. We see people as people, not labels, and we honor their lived experiences, strengths, and aspirations.
We are here to do with, not do for—walking alongside individuals as partners, supporting self-determination, independence, and meaningful life outcomes.
Who we aren’t
We do not work around people or make decisions on their behalf. We do not support the belief that people with disabilities should live in segregated communities based solely on shared disability. We do not work for families or guardians at the expense of the person we are hired to support.
We also do not approach our work through a disability-only mindset. Instead, we reject deficit-based thinking and refuse to define people by diagnosis rather than by their interests, values, and aspirations.
